Neuropsychological Assessments
Dr. Tucker provides neuropsychological assessments for children between the ages of 6 and 18 as well as with young adults in college. Dr. Tucker’s assessments are personalized and focused on understanding the child as a whole. The purpose of a neuropsychological assessments is to help parents, teachers, and the child understand why the child is struggling in certain areas and what can be done to help. In addition to identifying areas of difficulty, Dr. Tucker highlights each child’s strengths and uses these strengths to help inform interventions. Her assessments yield an integrated picture of a child’s cognitive, academic, and social-emotional development as well as specific recommendations for improving functioning in all three areas. A comprehensive assessment allows us to see a child more completely, identify the sources of difficulties and strengths, and provide the right support moving forward.
Dr. Tucker draws from her background as a school psychologist and a classroom teacher to think about realistic recommendations and how to help everyone understand and apply these interventions. Through the evaluation process, Dr. Tucker works closely with schools and other involved professionals to help understand the child’s unique learning profile and needs and to maximize the results of the assessment across settings. A goal of the assessment process is for each child and family to emerge empowered and equipped to move forward.
